Job Position: Heritage Interpretation Specialist

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a passionate and talented individual to join our team as a Heritage Interpretation Specialist. This role involves designing and delivering educational programs, interactive exhibits, and guided tours to enhance visitors' understanding and appreciation of Stewart Island's history and cultural heritage.

Responsibilities:

Developing and implementing engaging educational programs tailored to different age groups and interests
Creating interactive exhibits and displays that effectively communicate historical information
Conducting guided tours for visitors, providing insightful commentary and answering questions
Collaborating with our team to research and collect artefacts, photographs, and archival documents
Assisting in the organization and coordination of events, workshops, and special exhibitions
Contributing to the development of educational materials, including written guides and multimedia resources
Engaging with local schools and community groups to promote historical and cultural awareness

Qualifications:

A degree or diploma in history, archaeology, museum studies, or a related field
Prior experience in heritage interpretation, museum education, or similar roles
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong research and organizational abilities
Passion for history, culture, and storytelling
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a diverse team
