We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to join the City of Wichita as an Environmental Compliance Specialist. As an integral part of our team, the ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our operations adhere to environmental regulations and standards while contributing to the preservation and sustainability of our natural resources. In this role, you will analyze and interpret data, conduct environmental assessments, and develop strategies to minimize our environmental impact. The Environmental Compliance Specialist will collaborate with various departments to implement environmentally responsible practices and provide guidance on compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conducting environmental audits and assessments
  • Developing and maintaining environmental compliance programs
  • Performing environmental impact studies and recommending solutions
  • Providing training on environmental compliance and best practices
  • Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental initiatives
  • Keeping abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in environmental compliance or a related field
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Certification in environmental management is a plus
