Position Overview:

The Media Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communication strategies to enhance Nebraska Medicine's public image and promote our services across various media platforms. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual who can effectively manage media relations, craft compelling narratives, and coordinate public relations initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Devise and execute media plans to support organizational goals
Foster relationships with local and national media outlets
Create engaging content such as press releases, articles, and social media posts
Contribute to crisis communication strategies and manage media inquiries
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment in messaging and branding
Monitor and analyze media coverage to assess public perception
Participate in the development of communication campaigns and special projects

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
Proven experience in media relations, public relations, or corporate communications
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in digital media and social media management
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
Understanding of healthcare industry trends, a plus
