Position: Resource Conservation Specialist
About the Role:
At Southern Seafoods, we are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Resource Conservation Specialist. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in analyzing and managing the various natural resources surrounding Stewart Island. Your expertise will directly contribute to the decision-making process, ensuring our operations are aligned with environmental regulations and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive environmental assessments and impact studies to determine the effect of our activities on local ecosystems.
- Develop and implement strategies for sustainable resource management, focusing on ecological preservation and climate change mitigation.
- Monitor and interpret data from various sources to assess the health and well-being of marine and terrestrial environments.
- Collaborate with government agencies, research institutions, and local communities to promote conservation initiatives.
- Provide guidance on compliance with environmental legislation and policies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or higher degree in a related field such as Marine Biology, Ecology, or Natural Resource Management.
- Proven experience in the assessment and management of environmental impacts.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret scientific data.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and policies in New Zealand.
- Effective communication and presentation abilities to engage with diverse stakeholders.
