Position: Resource Conservation Specialist

About the Role:

At Southern Seafoods, we are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Resource Conservation Specialist. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in analyzing and managing the various natural resources surrounding Stewart Island. Your expertise will directly contribute to the decision-making process, ensuring our operations are aligned with environmental regulations and sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive environmental assessments and impact studies to determine the effect of our activities on local ecosystems.
Develop and implement strategies for sustainable resource management, focusing on ecological preservation and climate change mitigation.
Monitor and interpret data from various sources to assess the health and well-being of marine and terrestrial environments.
Collaborate with government agencies, research institutions, and local communities to promote conservation initiatives.
Provide guidance on compliance with environmental legislation and policies.

Requirements:

Bachelor's or higher degree in a related field such as Marine Biology, Ecology, or Natural Resource Management.
Proven experience in the assessment and management of environmental impacts.
Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret scientific data.
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and policies in New Zealand.
Effective communication and presentation abilities to engage with diverse stakeholders.
