Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Excavation Specialist to join the Saxony State Office for Archaeology in Saxony, Germany. As an Excavation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the preservation and exploration of our rich cultural heritage. Your work will involve managing excavation projects, conducting research, and collaborating with a team of professionals.

Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate, and execute excavation projects in compliance with established guidelines and regulations
Supervise archaeological fieldwork including excavation, stratigraphic recording, and artifact analysis
Utilize advanced archaeological techniques and technologies to ensure accurate data collection and interpretation
Coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, historians, and preservation specialists
Conduct thorough research and analysis of archaeological findings to contribute to the understanding of Saxony's cultural heritage
Prepare comprehensive excavation reports, presentations, and publications
Manage archaeological collections and ensure proper documentation and storage
Contribute to public outreach initiatives and educational programs to promote awareness and appreciation of archaeology

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Archaeology or a related field
Proven experience in archaeological excavation, including fieldwork and data analysis
Strong knowledge of archaeological methodologies, theories, and best practices
Proficient in using archaeological equipment, tools, and software applications
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German
Valid driver's license
