We are excited to announce a new opportunity at The Providence Journal for the position of Community Engagement Specialist. We are a leading media organization dedicated to providing quality news and information to the residents of Rhode Island.

As a Community Engagement Specialist, you will play a vital role in fostering connections between our publication and the local community. In this position, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies and local nonprofits, to promote community involvement and outreach initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Develop and execute community engagement strategies to enhance the reach and impact of our news content.
Facilitate partnerships with local organizations, government agencies, and nonprofits to drive collaborative initiatives.
Plan and coordinate public events, workshops, and forums that encourage community participation and meaningful conversations.
Manage online platforms and social media accounts to cultivate an engaged and active online community.
Analyze data and feedback to assess the effectiveness of community engagement efforts and make informed recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
Experience in community engagement, public outreach, or a similar role is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as experience with social media management.
An understanding of the local government and nonprofit landscape in Rhode Island.
Passion for community building, civic engagement, and storytelling.
