Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Multicultural Engagement Specialist to join our dynamic team. As a Multicultural Engagement Specialist, you will play a crucial role in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusivity within the university's workforce. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement strategies that attract and retain a diverse pool of talent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with hiring managers to understand their diverse talent needs and create recruitment plans that align with the university's diversity goals;
- Develop and implement innovative strategies to attract a diverse pool of applicants, including targeted outreach, partnerships, and community engagement;
- Design and deliver training programs on diversity and inclusion to hiring managers and search committees;
- Review and revise recruitment practices to ensure they are inclusive and free from biases;
- Monitor recruitment metrics and analyze data to identify areas for improvement and measure the effectiveness of diversity initiatives;
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to establish and maintain a supportive and inclusive work environment for all employees;
- Stay current with industry best practices and trends related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in recruitment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field;
- Experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, preferably in a university or large organization;
- Strong knowledge of employment equity legislation and best practices;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to engage and collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment;
- Proficiency in using applicant tracking systems and recruitment software;
- Experience with event planning and project management is an asset.
