United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Sustainable Development Specialist. As a key player in the nexus between policy and practice, the successful candidate will work to drive sustainable development initiatives, with a focus on rural and agricultural communities.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement strategies to enhance agricultural sustainability and rural development
Collaborate with international organizations, governments, and local communities to promote sustainable agricultural practices
Analyze and assess the impact of policies and programs related to agricultural and rural development
Provide expert guidance on integrating sustainable development practices into agricultural and rural projects
Facilitate capacity-building workshops and training programs for local stakeholders
Contribute to the design and implementation of projects aimed at enhancing rural livelihoods and food security
Prepare and present reports, analyses, and recommendations on sustainable development in the agricultural sector
Assist in raising awareness and advocating for policies that support sustainable agricultural and rural development initiatives
Stay abreast of the latest trends and innovations in sustainable agriculture and rural development

Requirements:

Advanced degree in environmental science, agricultural economics, rural development, or related fields
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in sustainable development, agricultural policy, or rural development
Proven track record of implementing successful projects focused on rural and agricultural sustainability
Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to interpret complex information related to agricultural and rural development
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and build partnerships
Experience working in multicultural and multilingual environments is highly desirable
Demonstrated commitment to promoting sustainability and resilience in agricultural and rural contexts
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French or other UN languages is an asset
