Seeking a Sustainable Development Specialist

United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Sustainable Development Specialist. As a key player in the nexus between policy and practice, the successful candidate will work to drive sustainable development initiatives, with a focus on rural and agricultural communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance agricultural sustainability and rural development
  • Collaborate with international organizations, governments, and local communities to promote sustainable agricultural practices
  • Analyze and assess the impact of policies and programs related to agricultural and rural development
  • Provide expert guidance on integrating sustainable development practices into agricultural and rural projects
  • Facilitate capacity-building workshops and training programs for local stakeholders
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of projects aimed at enhancing rural livelihoods and food security
  • Prepare and present reports, analyses, and recommendations on sustainable development in the agricultural sector
  • Assist in raising awareness and advocating for policies that support sustainable agricultural and rural development initiatives
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends and innovations in sustainable agriculture and rural development

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in environmental science, agricultural economics, rural development, or related fields
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in sustainable development, agricultural policy, or rural development
  • Proven track record of implementing successful projects focused on rural and agricultural sustainability
  • Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to interpret complex information related to agricultural and rural development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and build partnerships
  • Experience working in multicultural and multilingual environments is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting sustainability and resilience in agricultural and rural contexts
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of French or other UN languages is an asset
