We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Canine Behavior Specialist to join our team. As a Canine Behavior Specialist, you will play a critical role in evaluating, assessing, and implementing behavior modification plans for dogs with various backgrounds and temperaments. Your work will directly contribute to the well-being and successful adoption of our shelter dogs, providing them with the best chance for a forever home.

Responsibilities:

Evaluate and assess the behavior of shelter dogs
Design and implement behavior modification plans
Provide training and support to staff and volunteers on canine behavior
Collaborate with the adoption team to ensure successful matches between dogs and adopters
Conduct behavioral assessments to support the overall care and rehabilitation of shelter dogs

Required Qualifications:

Prior experience in dog training and behavior modification
Strong understanding of dog behavior and body language
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Passion for animal welfare and commitment to the mission of the Oregon Humane Society

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in dog training or behavior modification
Experience working with shelter or rescue dogs
Knowledge of positive reinforcement training methods
