Position Overview

Whanganui District Council is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Community Engagement and Outreach Representative. As a member of our team, you will be at the forefront of fostering community relationships, promoting environmentally conscious initiatives, and encouraging responsible consumer behavior.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, promoting ethical consumer choices in line with our sustainable values.
Organize and execute community events to educate the public on sustainable living and responsible consumption.
Collaborate with local organizations and schools to advocate for environmentally friendly practices and products.
Contribute to the creation of sustainable retail and sales strategies that align with our commitment to environmental stewardship.
Participate in outreach programs to engage with underrepresented communities and empower them to make sustainable choices.
Monitor and report on the success of community engagement initiatives, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications

Proven experience in community outreach, sales, or retail, with a focus on sustainable practices.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
A deep passion for environmental conservation and sustainability.
Strong organizational and project management abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team.
Demonstrated commitment to social responsibility and ethical consumer advocacy.
