Mimosa Lodge is currently seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as an Animal Care Specialist. As an essential part of our organization, you will be responsible for the well-being and care of the creatures that bring joy to our clients.
Job Title: Creature Care Specialist
Location: Free State, South Africa
Responsibilities:
- Providing compassionate care and attention to the animals under our supervision
- Ensuring the cleanliness of animal living spaces and exercise areas
- Assisting with feeding and medication schedules as directed by veterinary staff
- Observing and reporting on animal behavior, health, and overall well-being
- Facilitating positive interactions between animals and guests, and maintaining a safe environment
Requirements:
- Passionate about the welfare of animals with a strong commitment to their well-being
- Previous experience in a similar role, or relevant qualifications/training in animal care
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with animals and humans alike
- Physical fitness and willingness to perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, and being on your feet for extended periods
- Proficiency in observing and interpreting animal behavior and body language
