Role Overview

Are you passionate about building connections, fostering understanding, and bringing people together? Mercy Corps is seeking an Empathy Advocate to join our team in Berlin.

As an Empathy Advocate, you will play a pivotal role in leveraging the power of human connection and emotional intelligence to strengthen our programs and social initiatives. You will be at the forefront of creating inclusive spaces, fostering dialogue, and promoting empathy within our organization and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to cultivate empathy and inclusivity within Mercy Corps
  • Facilitate workshops, trainings, and events to enhance understanding and empathetic communication
  • Collaborate with various teams to integrate empathy-centered approaches into program design and implementation
  • Monitor social and cultural trends, reactively and proactively advocating for empathy in response to emerging issues
  • Utilize storytelling techniques and multimedia platforms to amplify diverse voices and promote empathy online
  • Track and analyze metrics to measure the impact of empathy initiatives and refine strategies accordingly
  • Engage with external stakeholders, partners, and communities to foster empathy-building relationships

Requirements

  • Proven experience in community engagement, social advocacy, or related fields
  • Strong understanding of interpersonal dynamics and emotional intelligence
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to navigate and moderate online conversations with empathy and respect
  • Passion for humanitarian work and commitment to social justice
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms to foster empathy and create meaningful connections
  • Fluency in English and German; additional languages are a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience
