The Palermo Community Historical Preservation Society is seeking a talented professional to contribute their expertise in a role that combines the fields of cultural preservation and sustainable development.

Position: Heritage Conservation and Ecological Management Specialist

Job Responsibilities

Cultural Heritage Preservation: Assess and develop strategies to safeguard and restore historical sites, artifacts, and monuments within Palermo and its surrounding areas.
Environmental Stewardship: Study the impact of human activities on Sicily's natural resources and develop plans to promote ecological sustainability.
Collaboration: Coordinate with local authorities, academic institutions, and community organizations to implement preservation and environmental initiatives.
Research: Conduct in-depth research on the geological, archaeological, and historical aspects of Palermo, focusing on the relationship between human settlement and the natural environment.
Education and Advocacy: Organize and conduct educational programs and awareness campaigns to engage the community in historical preservation and environmental protection.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Archaeology, Architecture, History, Conservation, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in conservation, heritage management, or environmental stewardship.
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of traditional architecture, cultural heritage preservation, and ecological principles.
Skills: Excellent communication, project management, and research skills. Proficiency in GIS (Geographic Information System) is desirable.
Passion: Enthusiasm for preserving cultural heritage, promoting sustainable development, and fostering community engagement.
