Position Overview:

As an Agriculture and Rural Development Specialist at Singing River Health System, you will play a vital role in advancing our efforts to support the local agricultural industry and rural development initiatives in Mississippi. You will collaborate with stakeholders, including farmers, agricultural organizations, and government agencies, to implement strategies that promote sustainable agriculture, rural economic growth, and community resilience.

Responsibilities:

Conduct assessments and research on the local agricultural industry and rural areas to identify needs, challenges, and opportunities
Develop and implement programs to enhance agricultural productivity, profitability, and sustainability
Provide expert advice and guidance to farmers and rural entrepreneurs on best practices in areas such as crop management, livestock production, and land-use planning
Collaborate with government agencies and NGOs to access funding and resources for agricultural and rural development projects
Organize and facilitate workshops, training sessions, and conferences to promote knowledge sharing and capacity building within the agricultural community
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented initiatives and make recommendations for improvement

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Agriculture and Rural Development
Demonstrated expertise in agricultural practices, rural economics, and community development
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks
Proficiency in relevant software and tools
