Missouri Department of Mental Health is seeking a passionate individual to fill the position of Animal Well-being Specialist. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the well-being and mental health of our community by working with animals.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement animal-assisted therapy programs to support mental health treatment
- Provide behavioral assessments and training for therapy animals
- Collaborate with mental health professionals to incorporate animals into therapy sessions
- Ensure the safety and well-being of animals involved in therapy programs
- Educate the community on the benefits of animal-assisted therapy
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field
- Experience working with animals and understanding their behavior
- Knowledge of mental health issues and therapeutic interventions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
