Community Engagement Specialist - Municipal Initiative
Are you passionate about fostering sustainable agriculture practices and building stronger community ties? The Municipality of Leiden is seeking a dedicated individual to join our dynamic team as a Community Engagement Specialist. In this role, you will play a vital part in our ongoing commitment to enhancing sustainable food systems and promoting environmental stewardship throughout the South Holland region.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local farmers, agricultural organizations, and community groups to advance sustainable agriculture initiatives.
- Organize and lead educational events, workshops, and outreach programs focused on sustainable farming practices and environmental conservation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to implement community gardens and urban farming projects that promote access to fresh, local produce.
- Facilitate dialogue between residents, policymakers, and industry experts to address issues related to food security, agriculture sustainability, and rural development.
- Conduct research and analyze data to support evidence-based decision-making and strategic planning for sustainable food systems.
- Engage with diverse stakeholder groups to raise awareness about the importance of supporting local agriculture and fostering a sense of community ownership.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Community Development, or related field.
- Proven experience in community engagement, project management, or sustainable agriculture advocacy.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Passion for creating positive social impact and promoting environmental sustainability.
- Knowledge of local agricultural practices and an understanding of rural development challenges.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and drive positive change within the community.
