Job Description:

The Messina Regional Archaeological Society, a leading organization in Sicily, Italy, is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Excavation Supervisor to join our dynamic team. The position involves supervising and overseeing archaeological excavations, ensuring the highest standards of professionalism and dedication.

Responsibilities:

Plan and coordinate archaeological excavations in compliance with established protocols and regulations.
Supervise and lead a team of archaeologists to conduct fieldwork, ensuring safety and efficiency.
Manage excavation sites, maintaining proper documentation, and recording all findings accurately.
Identify archaeological artifacts, analyze their context, and provide expert insights.
Collaborate with researchers, historians, and onsite professionals to contribute to the scientific understanding of the region's history and culture.
Ensure proper storage, preservation, and cataloging of artifacts.
Conduct ongoing research to stay updated on the latest archaeological methodologies and discoveries.
Present findings at conferences, workshops, or public events.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or a related field.
Proven experience in archaeological excavations.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record findings.
Proficiency in the use of archaeological equipment and tools.
Knowledge of Sicilian historical and cultural heritage is preferred.
Ability to work well within a team and collaborate effectively.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
Ability to adapt to changing environments and work under pressure.
