Position: Farming Operations Manager
As a Farming Operations Manager at ScotRail, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the agricultural activities on our vast rural properties throughout Scotland. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing strategic plans to optimize agricultural production and profitability
- Supervising and coordinating the day-to-day farming operations, including crop cultivation, livestock management, and land maintenance
- Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting sustainable agricultural practices
- Monitoring market trends and identifying opportunities for diversification and innovation
- Managing budgets, forecasting expenses, and maximizing cost-efficiency
- Leading a team of skilled agricultural professionals and providing guidance and support
- Building strong relationships with local communities and stakeholders
Requirements:
- Proven experience in agricultural management, including crop production, livestock farming, and rural property management
- Excellent knowledge of agricultural operations, industry regulations, and best practices
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate data, trends, and performance indicators
- Effective communication and leadership abilities
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to make informed decisions
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment
- Degree in Agricultural Sciences or related field (MSc or MBA is preferred)
- Valid driver's license
