Svalbard Museum and Archives welcomes applications for the position of Chief Aircraft Curator. We are looking for a passionate individual with a deep interest in the history and technology of flight, to oversee our collection of historical aircraft artifacts and exhibits.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the museum's aircraft collection, including restoration, preservation, and documentation of artifacts.
- Curate engaging exhibitions that showcase the evolution of aviation technology and its impact on society.
- Conduct research on aviation history and contribute to scholarly publications and educational programs.
- Collaborate with aviation experts, historians, and enthusiasts to expand the museum's network and knowledge base.
- Supervise a team of museum staff and volunteers to ensure the highest standards of curation and visitor experience.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in History, Museum Studies, Aeronautics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in curating aircraft collections or working in aviation-related institutions.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Passion for preserving aviation heritage and sharing knowledge with diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
