The North Carolina Petroleum Association is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Excise Tax Compliance Consultant to join our team. As an Excise Tax Compliance Consultant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate collection and reporting of excise taxes for our members in the energy industry.

Job Responsibilities:

Research and interpret state and federal excise tax laws and regulations applicable to the petroleum industry.
Assist member companies in understanding and complying with excise tax requirements.
Conduct comprehensive audits at member facilities to ensure compliance with excise tax laws.
Analyze financial records, invoices, and other relevant documents to facilitate accurate tax reporting.
Develop and implement strategies to minimize excise tax liabilities while adhering to legal requirements.
Stay up-to-date with changes in excise tax legislation and communicate potential impacts to association members.
Act as a liaison between the association and government regulatory agencies regarding excise tax matters.
Provide guidance and support to member companies during excise tax audits and disputes.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in taxation, preferably excise taxes or related areas.
Strong knowledge of state and federal excise tax laws and regulations.
Ability to analyze complex financial and tax-related data accurately.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with accounting software and MS Office Suite.
Professional certification in taxation (e.g., CPA) is desirable but not required.
