Halifax Public Libraries is currently seeking a passionate individual to join our team as a Community Advocacy Representative. This unique position aligns with the legal and social responsibility industry, offering you an opportunity to make a difference in our community.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively represent the library's values in the community and advocate for the rights of our patrons
- Collaborate with community organizations to provide legal resource referrals and supportive services
- Engage in public education initiatives to raise awareness about legal matters and promote civic literacy
- Assist library patrons in accessing legal information and resources
- Organize community events focused on legal rights, public safety, and environmental awareness
- Contribute to the development of educational materials related to legal and environmental issues
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Political Science, Sociology, or Public Policy
- Prior experience in community outreach, advocacy, or public education
- Strong knowledge of legal processes, community resources, and social justice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for social impact and environmental sustainability
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
